Description
This 1990s baroque trim, celestial embossed suit in sunshine yellow is unquestionably the work of Gianni Versace and hails from arguably the pinnacle of his design genius; circa 1991 – 1995.
The blended jacquard fabric features a giant sun with face motif and the typical scrolling baroque design that is synonymous with Versace garments from this era. Comprising of a short-sleeved collarless jacket, very fitted with a deep scoop neck; it has ornamental front pockets and highly stylised gold Medusa head buttons filled with yellow enamel. The two largest buttons are on the patch pocket design. The mini skirt is a classic pencil style with a short kick pleat and fastens to the rear with an invisible zip. Both pieces feature black, gold and silver machine embroidered trim. Lined in a quality acetate with the Gianni Versace couture label.
Labelled an Italian 42, this equates roughly to around a size UK 10. Versace sizing runs smaller so this might be better suited to a UK size 8 or US 4, although the jacket is a little bigger. In fabulous vintage condition; gently worn and no issues with either piece. Our model (5ft 11in 180 cm) is a UK 8-10, the jacket was roomy on her and the skirt fit her well.
