Description

Superb mid 1960s Saks Fifth Avenue floral maxi evening dress with a soft silk bodice, with beautiful darts under the bust which create a lovely feminine silhouette. It has a gentle V shaped sweetheart neckline to both the front and back, with slim shoulder straps. The waist section features a large velvet bow detail to the front, and the dress fastens down the back with the original central metal zip. The skirt is layered carefully to create volume and movement, with a silky black underskirt and silk chiffon printed overlay. This overlay features a bold abstract rose print in shades of chartreuse and pale cream, against a black backdrop.

This dress has lost what would have been a top tier designer label as Saks only retailed the best of the best during this period. It does retain its ILGWU Union label dating the garment to 1964 – 1973. In wonderful vintage condition and looks barely worn with no faults of any note. A great option for a gala event or special occasion and would best fit a small size 8-10 UK, or 4-6 US. Our model is a UK 6-8 and 5ft 4in (163 cm) and this dress was roomy on her.
