Description

This vivacious 1970s pure silk chiffon haute couture dress with rainbow hemline is of excellent quality and in superb vintage condition. Although unlabelled, we are able to discern that it is American in origin and is likely to be by one of the most prolific designers of the era such as Oscar De La Renta or Bill Blass. The dress is 100% silk with a silk chiffon overlay and satin lining in the bodice. The dress is sleeveless with a scoop neck, wide set drop waistband and a voluminous floor sweeping skirt. The skirt is generously gathered below the waist and falls in soft pleats, featuring a flamboyant rainbow striped hem in vibrant fuchsia, turquoise, gold, emerald and tangerine. The organza petticoat echoes the colouring of the skirt and adds to the volume. There is a central zip fastening at the reverse. A spectacular piece of exceptional quality, would best suit US size 4, UK size 8.
