Description

This charming, silk cropped evening jacket was designed in the 1950s. It is labelled and bears the name Cavanagh s of St Thomas, Virgin Islands, which would have been the go-to boutique during this era in this glamorous destination spot. The waist-length jacket is of luxurious silk satin in deep crimson, and is beautifully embellished with pearlescent and rocaille beads in a simple design reminiscent of flowers or shells. Beaded tassels are used to trim the hem of the jacket as well as the cuffs elbow length sleeves. This piece has an open neckline with a peak lapel and two hook-and-eye fastenings at the centre-front just above the waist. The shoulders each have a single gather at the reverse. This piece is fully lined.
